Internet image search issues - Matrix Maker, MyBoard and Slideshow Maker
(14/11/11)

Some customers have reported issues with the Internet image search feature in Matrix Maker, MyBoard and Slideshow Maker: There are often Java Script errors when searching and there is no way to add images into the program

This is happening because Google have recently changed the way their Image Search works on Internet Explorer 8 and 9. Rather than simply displaying the required image (as it did before), Google now displays the source webpage with the image imposed over it (using Java Script). The programs are looking for an image to add (not a web page) so the Add/OK button is not displayed.

We are currently working on a fix for MyBoard and Slideshow Maker (due late November) that will allow the user to add images by clicking the ‘Full-size image’ link in the right hand column on the search result page. This method is already available in Matrix Maker.

It has also been brought to our attention that some search results automatically redirect to other websites, often containing explicit content. Unfortunately this is unavoidable using Google Image Search. If you wish to disable the Internet search function, or change the default site used for searching, these parameters can be set using the following method:

Depending on which title you have:

Navigate to C:\Inclusive\Matrix Maker and open the config.txt file
Navigate to C:\Inclusive\Slideshow Maker and open the config.txt file
Navigate to C:\Inclusive\MyBoard and open the config.txt file

1. To disable the Internet search functionality change the 'internetenabled' value to 'false'
2. To change the default website change the 'internethomepage' value to the desired URL
