SwitchIt! Bob the Builder™ Flash Cards
‘Flash Cards’ are single images taken from the program’s theme. They appear on screen in response to switch presses, with an additional press to hear the accompanying text spoken.
SwitchIt! Bob the Builder™ Picture Builds
‘Picture Builds’ create composite pictures piece by piece, in response to switch presses. You can vary the number of presses required in order to build the complete picture. When it is complete, the user is rewarded by lots of exciting animation and sound.
SwitchIt! Bob the Builder™ Stories
‘Stories’ are stepped, animated sequences that are revealed in response to switch presses. There are pauses between each step, to encourage students to watch and understand the unfolding story. You can use these to discuss what the characters are doing and why.
About the SwitchIt! Series
Learners who use switches to access a computer need a range of software in order to motivate them to develop their ability to use switches. The computer can also give them relative independence in learning new concepts. The SwitchIt! series from Inclusive Technology is designed to help switch users develop and demonstrate understanding of language concepts, as well as develop their ability.
SwitchIt! programs can help users develop an understanding of cause and effect through pressing a switch (or other input device) to build a scene.
- Choose how many steps it will take for each scene to be completed.
- You set the length of reward after each switch press.
- The picture menu allows children to choose scenes for themselves.
- User preferences can be saved and loaded at any time.
