Afasic
Afasic is a registered charity, established
in 1968. Its members include parents and professionals with an interest in
speech and language impairments.
It has local groups across the country,
where members meet regularly, organise events for children and their families,
and raise funds.
Afasic Aims
To increase awareness and
recognition of communication impairments, leading to better medical and
educational provision and employment and training prospects.
To assist
children and young people to develop increased confidence and self-esteem
enabling them to participate more fully in society
They
also:
• provide information and advice to parents and professionals
•
publish a members' newsletter three times a year
• produce publications and
information leaflets
• organise workshops and conferences
• run
Activity Weeks and Weekends for children and young people
• work for
improved services for children and young people with speech and language
impairments
