ACE Centre Advisory Trust
The ACE (Aiding Communication in Education) Centre Advisory Trust
carries out assessments and provides information in the use of technology as an
aid to communication.
Assessment
They carry out assessments
on young people who have communication difficulties. Assessments include advice
on the use of electronic aids, often in conjunction with a combination of
approaches such as signing, symbol use, gesture and eye-pointing.
Publications
The ACE Centre has a range of publications about
communication aids and related communication services. A publications catalogue
is available on request.
Training
Training is available for
teachers, therapists, carers and parents through courses and training days held
both at and away from the Centre. These days address various areas of aided
communication such as symbol systems, writing aids and speech output devices.
ACE Centre teams regularly visit LEA-selected or school-based groups to meet
specific training needs. A training leaflet is available on request
School Review
A customised audit to schools who have communication
and physically disabled children. This written review explores the school's
current use of technology and makes constructive suggestions for future
development.
