Last thing on Friday afternoon, when we eight-year-olds lifted our chairs on to the desks at primary school, it seemed like an age since the week had begun. The weekend stretched ahead deliciously. At twenty-eight, as a primary school teacher, I had the same feelings – but a week had become a whole term; the weekend a whole holiday. Now, thirty years after that, a whole year flies by in the space of a week....

Summer in China was ridiculously hot with temperatures some days soaring as high as 40 degrees. The high humidity levels also added to the feeling of walking around in a permanent sauna. Celebrating our tenth birthday at the Special Needs Fringe

To mark our tenth birthday we have launched SwitchIt! Bob the Builder, new software that has brought Bob the Builder within reach of disabled youngsters.

Bob himself made a special guest appearance at the Special Needs Fringe exhibition, which took place at the Olympia Hilton, London, from 10 – 12 January.

Although the keyboard and mouse are ubiquitous, they can cause problems for people who are not considered to have special needs. For those who do, our standard access devices can be a real barrier to accessing a computer. Fortunately, computers have built-in accessibility options that can help. Some simple adjustments can make a world of difference and are well worth trying out.

Easy Access to ICT

There are a great many reasons why the use of ICT is important for people with special needs. Those with physical difficulties and related handwriting problems may find it easier to record their work using computer technology. Those with a visual impairment can use ICT to access learning materials, while people with severe and complex special educational needs can learn essential skills such as understanding cause and effect or turn taking.

Rupert at the London Marathon

Rupert Runs the Marathon!

Rupert Bear completed the London Marathon 2006 in 5 hours and 8 minutes to the delight of family and friends.

Inclusive's new website has been launched at a special champagne reception at the Special Needs Fringe.

Inclusive, which is also celebrating its tenth year, also launched several microsites to provide educators, therapists and parents with extra support for using software titles in the Let's Go series, Choose and Tell series, SwitchIt! Maker 2 and ChooseIt! Maker 2.

We are based in a beautiful place! Delph is in the heart of Saddleworth, known for its dramatic Pennine moors, river valleys and picturesque villages with mills and stone built cottages.
