Summer in China was ridiculously hot with temperatures some days soaring as high as 40 degrees. The high humidity levels also added to the feeling of walking around in a permanent sauna. Carrying out Speech & Language Therapy in these conditions as well as having to carry numerous toys and resources between homes was a real challenge!... |

Hints and tips on using the keyboard and mouse Although the keyboard and mouse are ubiquitous, they can cause problems for people who are not considered to have special needs. For those who do, our standard access devices can be a real barrier to accessing a computer. Fortunately, computers have built-in accessibility options that can help. Some simple adjustments can make a world of difference and are well worth trying out. |

There are a great many reasons why the use of ICT is important for people with special needs. Those with physical difficulties and related handwriting problems may find it easier to record their work using computer technology. Those with a visual impairment can use ICT to access learning materials, while people with severe and complex special educational needs can learn essential skills such as understanding cause and effect or turn taking. |

Rupert Bear completed the London Marathon 2006 in 5 hours and 8 minutes to the delight of family and friends. The outfit was worn, once again, by Bernie Henderson, manager of the Assistive Technology Service in Swansea. |
