Two Inclusive products shortlisted for BETT Awards
Two of our products have just been shortlisted for the prestigious BETT Awards for educational resources, which received a record number of entries this year.
Switch Skills 1 has been shortlisted in the Early Years and Primary Software, Content, and Tools category. This collection of easy switch timing activities is fun for all ages. It has exciting themes that provide all the motivation needed to help students who understand cause and effect to develop more disciplined switch use.
The EasiTrax alternative mouse has been shortlisted in the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Hardware category. It represents a major advance in the design of pointing devices for those with special needs. Light, easy to use and requiring minimal hand movement to operate, EasiTrax combines the benefits of both rollerballs and joysticks in one single affordable device.
Vanessa Pittard, Director of Evidence and Evaluation at Becta, and joint chair of judges, said: "This year we have had almost a 100 per cent increase in entries to the BETT Awards, reflecting a recognition by the industry of the Awards and judging process. Entries have come in from a range of companies across the sector - large and small, established and new. Each product shortlisted has the potential to enhance learning, and should be viewed as an exemplar."
BETT is the largest educational technology event in the world, with up to 25,000 teachers attending each January. Like the Edinburgh festival it now has a fringe, with specialist special needs companies exhibiting independently at the Special Needs Fringe in the Olympia Hilton next door.
The BETT Awards recognise and reward the creativity, innovation and commitment of an organisation or company in developing high quality and effective educational ICT resources. The overall winners will be announced at a gala dinner in January 2006.
