Inclusive Technology is a 'FAST 50' Fixture

Fast 50 for the second year runningFor the second successive year, Inclusive Technology has been named as one of the fifty fastest growing technology companies in the north of England, in Deloitte & Touche's Northern Technology Fast 50 Awards.

In the same two successive years the company Chairman, Martin Littler, reached the semi-final and final of Ernst and Young's Entrepreneur of the Year.

Based in Delph, near Oldham, Inclusive Technology produces assistive technology - the special computer related devices and software that help people with disabilities to communicate and learn.

"I am delighted that Inclusive Technology has been included in the Fast 50 Awards for two successive years," said Martin Littler, Chairman of the Inclusive Group of Companies.

"This a continuing trend with Inclusive Consultancy and Training Ltd topping £1 million, Inclusive Technology Ltd growing by a further 60% this year to £5.3 million, and our US company hitting sales of $2 million dollars in its first full year.

Fast 50 awards"This success reflects the increasing use of assistive technology to help people live, learn and work to their full potential.

"With more people in Britain now over 60 than under 16, and excellent government initiatives like UK Online, sales to the adult market were a major part of our growth last year. Becta's Communication Aids Project is also supplying assistive technology targeted to individual learners - precisely where it is needed. With so many distractions for government, it is good to see steady, well thought-out programmes that are quietly transforming the lives of people with disabilities and learners with special needs.

"These Awards rightly focus on the North and North West. This region, and Oldham and Greater Manchester in particular, has been the major driver in the field of assistive technology for twenty years. Local companies like Granada Learning SEMERC, Atkinson Vari-Tech, Don Johnston Ltd and Inclusive Technology have gained world leadership in our field through government led local initiatives like the ground-breaking, SEMERC led, Oldham Micros for Special Needs Exhibition and ACE North."

The regional Technology Fast 50 was created to recognise the outstanding contribution of technology companies to the economy. The award is based on financial performance and revenue growth and companies are ranked on percentage growth in turnover over three years between 2000 and 2002.

About the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 50 Programme:

The Fast 50 consists of a series of regional programmes covering the East, London & South East, Midlands, South West & South Wales, the North, Scotland and Ireland. Each region will host an awards ceremony to honour the 50 fastest growing technology companies in that area. Following the regional programmes, Deloitte & Touche will publish a national ranking of the UK's Technology Fast 50 companies.

In the North, the programme is sponsored by international law firm DLA and HSBC. Nationally, it is sponsored by Hewlett-Packard, the global provider of technology products and services; SCC, part of Europe's largest privately-owned technology group; the London Stock Exchange; and Intellect, the trade body for the UK-based information technology, telecommunications and electronics industry.

The Technology Fast 50 programme aims to find those companies that have shown impressive growth rates in the telecommunications, hardware, software and biotechnology markets over the last three financial years. All companies considered for an award must be headquartered in the North of England, must be technology-intensive, use unique technology in problem-solving, or must devote a high percentage of effort to research and development.
