December Dozens 2 - Access devices

December 2000

In 2000 Inclusive Technology supplied you with 222 different access devices and other hardware. The dozen you bought the most of are listed below - with some surprises. You are keeping us on our toes!

AbleNet switches

  1. AbleNet Medium Switch. The "Jelly Bean" sold well over a thousand units with red the most popular colour.
  2. AlphaSmart. The popular note taker changed from the AlphaSmart 2000 to the 3000 during the year with a price rise but still came in second. Even the AlphaSmart carry case is one of our top sellers.
  3. AbleNet Big Switch. The "Big Red Switch" (red was the most popular colour) continued to be in huge demand despite the entry of a rival during the year (see below).
  4. BIGmack. Simple single message device which can also control a toy.
  5. Inclusive Keyboard Stickers an inexpensive way to make your keyboard clear (and lowercase if you wish).
  6. Serial Switch Box - not the best way to connect switches to your computer but inexpensive and simple.
  7. IntelliKeysIntelliKeys Keyboard. A huge seller with additional British resources from Inclusive Technology. Next year sees the launch of the British activities exchange on www.intellitools.co.uk and other exciting developments. Watch this space!
  8. KidTrac. A very popular affordable track ball. The Inclusive version allows operation of the three buttons with colour coded switches (so it is a switch interface as well).
  9. ClearTek Touchmonitor. Touchmonitor prices seem to have stopped falling but the learning they provide is so immediate and direct that they are very much in demand. The most popular size is now the 17 inch touch screen.
  10. AbleNet Battery Device Adaptors. People continue to adapt popular toys, cassette recorders - anything with batteries - to switch operation.
  11. Adjustable Pressure Switch. Penny and Giles entry into the large switch market. Watch out for their medium switch early next year.
  12. SwitchBoardDon Johnston Switch Interface. A model change and price rise have not kept this versatile switch interface out of the top twelve.
  13. Big Keys. A welcome model change to the LX now offers more keys, more choice and a standard way of deleting what you have written.
  14. AbleNet PowerLink 2. Take control! Use any of the switches above to operate mains-power devices.
  15. PC Keyboard and Guard. The most economical way to get a keyguard that fits.
  16. SwitchBoard Keyboard. Very versatile and simple switch Interface which works with 99.99% of switch software (do let us know if you find any switch software it won't work with).
