The IntelliTools company is one of the major special needs ICT companies in the USA. The IntelliKeys overlay keyboard and associated Overlay Maker 3 program is the most widely used device of this type throughout the USA.
What has most impressed everyone who has examined this range of resources is the quality and consistency of the user interface and the intelligent way that it all works together. This led us to decide to take the major step of carrying a large selection of the IntelliTools range and, most importantly, to produce UK versions.
IntelliKeys - an extremely well designed overlay keyboard which can work with all the IntelliTools range of software and, with Overlay Maker, any other PC and Mac software. In addition to its use as an overlay keyboard it has two built-in sockets for switch use. The board has also been extensively developed as an alternative keyboard and is supplied with a selection of ready to use keyboard and mouse control overlays. These are available to use on both platforms and can be used as soon as the keyboard is connected to a computer as the necessary files are stored in the board. Non-slip feet and a built-in stand which allows the board to be angled make it ideal for users with motor difficulties or a visual impairment.
IntelliKeys Classic is the traditional board, with separate cables to fit into the keyboard socket of Windows or Macintosh computers.
IntelliKeys USB has been
completely updated and revised to work through the USB port. The same board and
same cable will connect to either Windows or Macintosh computers that have a
USB port. (not Win NT)
Overlay Maker 3- This
program, available for PC and Mac, allows you to create overlays and associated
files for the IntelliKeys keyboard, which can then be used with both IntelliTools
and other software. It is an extremely easy to use package which comes with
its own picture library of over 300 pictures, or you can add pictures and images
from other sources.
Overlays can send letters, phrases, mouse movements and
other special keys and commands. Single and double switch access is available
through the IntelliKeys switch sockets.
IntelliPics Studio - The incredible multimedia authoring tool for teachers and students, IntelliPics Studio is designed for both teachers and kids to create their own multimedia slide shows, presentations, games, and thousands of other sensational projects yet to be discovered.
IntelliTalk - While not providing the full multi-media capability of some of the popular UK word processing packages, IntelliTalk is a straightforward easy-to-use talking word processor. Available for the PC and Mac platforms it has the advantage of low cost and simplicity and, as part of the IntelliTools family, can integrate seamlessly with the IntelliKeys overlay board.
IntelliTalk II - the new,
completely revised version of IntelliTalk. Use it as a talking word processor
with picture support. Create literacy activities, using word banks or overlays.
Create worksheets with locked text. A very versatile program, complete with
very many example files to get you started, as well as a comprehensive
tutorial.

IntelliMathics - the newest addition to the IntelliTools family of products. This software is suitable for all ages and abilities. Students can use maths manipulatives on screen to solve all sorts of maths problems - attribute blocks, geoboards, base ten blocks, tangrams, probability, fractions etc. Use this software with the mouse, IntelliKeys or switches. Students with all access needs can experiment with fractions, angles, numbers.
We are confident that the IntelliTools family of software and hardware will become an important addition to IT provision in UK schools. The quality and feel of the programs and the IntelliKeys overlay board demonstrate the time and effort that have gone into their development. Inclusive Technology is committed to the further development and distribution of UK focused resources based on the IntelliTools family. To achieve this we are working closely with our US colleagues on future developments which will reflect the best of practice in both countries. We are also working with a number of schools to ensure that suitable resources will be developed for the IntelliTools programs.
