AbleNet PowerLink Powerlink 3 is a mains control unit which allows switches to be used to control electrical devices, providing additional experiences. For example, a child can take part in a cookery session by using a switch to turn on and off a food mixer: lights and fans can be connected giving more dramatic and appropriate rewards for older people. As well as a 3.5mm jack connection for a switch, the Powerlink 3 also has an infrared receiver for remote use with the Airlink Remote Switch (below). It provides four modes of control. Direct mode: keeps the appliance on only while the switch is activated. Often preferred for first-time switch users. Timed seconds mode: allows the appliance to run for a set amount of time from 1 to 60 seconds with a single activation. Timed minutes mode: allows the appliance to run for a set amount of time from 1 to 60 minutes with a single activation. Ideal for lengthier activities like playing an electric piano. Latch mode: one press of the switch turns the appliance on; the second press of the switch turns it off again. You can now operate your PowerLink 3 from across the room (up to 6 metres)! AirLink is a 2.5" diameter switch with an angled base (like the LITTLEmack Communicator).
