Penfriend XP

Penfriend XP is a powerful tool for those with dyslexia or physical disabilities, adding word prediction, speech and an on-screen keyboard to almost any other software. It offers considerable support for users with special needs, helping with spelling, confidence and speed of composing text. It will also read out almost any text, such as web pages or word processed documents.

Penfriend XP will work with your word processor and tries to guess the word you are typing when you have entered the first letter, the second letter and so on. One key press then finishes the word for you. It also learns the words you use frequently and recently, so it improves as you use it. This information is saved for each individual user, together with individual settings. In addition, it is easy for teachers to select preferences, edit children's lexicons and add topic specific vocabulary.

If you use Clicker 4 or Clicker 5, Penfriend XP can enhance your grids with prediction. It also integrates with Switch Access for Windows. As with Clicker, Penfriend predictions appear in the SAW grids without Penfriend being visible.

Additional benefits of Penfriend XP version 3.0

Penfriend XP version 3.0 now has even better prediction with 32 bit lexicons (it can still read 16 bit lexicons). Larger English lexicons are now available and Penfriend will now operate with an empty lexicon, enabling the user to start a new lexicon from scratch.

It will work in Microsoft applications, but also non-Microsoft products such as Mozilla, Firefox, Open Office etc. The program contains a link to free downloads of SAPI 4 voices on the web.

The on-screen keyboard now has a set of characters such as the € which are accessed via the Alt key on the on-screen keyboard.

The latest version of Clicker 5 integrates with Penfriend. Enhance your grids with word prediction and by providing switch access to Penfriend!
